Employers Must Use New I-9 Form After May 7, 2013

The United States Custom and Immigration Service (USCIS) has issued a new Form I-9. Beginning on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, all employers must use this new form for all new employees. The new form is available here: http://1.usa.gov/6WwZVE

Form I-9 is used to verify citizenship of employees and their eligibility to work in the US. Every employee is required to fill out a Form I-9 upon hiring and the employer must keep the forms on file. Employers can be fined for failing to comply with these requirements, and can face worse consequences for knowingly violating them. See http://1.usa.gov/iRapkw for more information.

Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about your use of Form I-9.
